Having lived in Seattle from 1992 thru 2002, I just want to say how VALIDATING it is to find out that there are not one--but THREE websites devoted to exposing Seattle for the overrated and crappy place that it truly is!

The Drones of Seattle (traffic cops, homer simpsons with helmets)

Recently in the Seattle paper there was an article about how the Mayors offices was upset that the traffic courts were reducing fines, thus reducing funds for their budget. One can infer that the Drones (traffic cops, non thinkers, Homer Simpson’s with helmets) of Seattle are profiling people with expensive cars, as happened to me, to obtain money for their budgets.

I was walking down the street in Capitol Hill and forgot to bring my lighter. When I walked up to a couple who was smoking and talking outside B&O's, I asked for a light. They guy looked me up and down and said "Thanks for ruining a perfectly good conversation."
It couldn't have possibily been that good, jerk.

Has Alki turned into the Projects?
Posted by: Submit_News on Monday, January 24, 2005 - 08:29 AM |

When did Alki turn into the projects and a hang out for all these poser gangsta's? I went down to Alki to enjoy the sunshine that has so graced its presence after months of cold, dreary weather. I haven't been down there for about two springs, as I was involved in other things. I don't remember the type of people hanging out there being this bad. What's going on?

Get out!

Been there, done that. I was born and raised in Seattle, I climbed all the mountains, swam in all the waters when they were once swimmable, used to drive from Ballard to Redmond in 20 minutes! I watched my fellow citizens vote in loser after loser to all offices and the city crumbled uder the weight of their self-serving actions. I watched billions upon billions get taxed out of seattlites to improve traffic and the money just disappeared....oh wait...The Sounder!!!!

My husband and I have been living in Seattle for 5 years (we moved here from Minneapolis). For the longest time I thought it was just me -- couldn't get my neighbors to talk to me over the fence, couldn't meet people at work who cared about anything but themselves, couldn't stand driving on the freeways here -- what's the deal -- the LEFT lane is for passing, not going 55 mph!
We hate it here and are planning our escape. Seattle you can take your "attitude" and psuedo culture and shove it up your Space Needle!

Three Years Was Far Too Long

After college, my band decided to move to the West Coast. I voted for most Seattle-lovers' notion of hell (AKA Southern CA, which I happen to love, although it's trendy to bash LA and pretend only shallow hollywood idiots live there, which isn't true) but I was outvoted, FOUR TO ONE. They all voted for Seattle.

Not Too Short and Not Too Sweet
Posted by: mystryssravyndarque on Monday, December 27, 2004 - 07:46 PM |

I have noticed most of the articles posted here on Seattle Shmeng have been very short. I ask myself "Why are all of the articles so very short?" But I cannot come up with one specific reason. The way I see it, most people are just saying that Seattle really bites the big one, but they aren't fully explaining themselves and they aren't explaining where they come from or what makes them have the views they do. I am going to give writing a full length article on my view of Seattle, and I want as much criticism, as much support as I can receive. Let the game begin.

Anguish in Seattle

I don’t understand how someone who is full of expression and passion is seen as weird in this state. What is ‘wrong’ with a little animation and feeling? Let go and stop being such an uptight thing! Don’t be so inhibited.

Ah Seattle, the great white northwest. I've lived all over the country but never have I witnessed a town (sorry, but Seattle is NOT a city) where it's possible to be so liberal that it's conservative.

Hey Seattle, you're no. 1!

Hey Seattleites! Once again, you beat big cities like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco! WOO-HOO! Forbes Magazine just released its list of the Most Overpriced Places for 2004 and the lovely Emerald City is numero uno! Not much bang for our buck, apparently.
I'm still waiting for the locals to blame Californians -- hurry up and don't keep me waiting! I'll be disappointed if I don't hear from you. ;)

I had an interesting experience on Sat and thought I'd share. In return I would hope everyone would contribute their two cents in experiences they have had with the people out here. Be specific and your thoughts on how you handled or impression afterwards. If your not a towny and were born somewhere else, pls tell us if you ever experienced it in that city.

I found this website and would like everyone to read and comment. A website where people actually love living in Seattle. When I read some of the posts I almost puked!
Pls comment on what you've read and I am sure there are alot of people on this board that would disagree.

Seattle...slightly worse than suicide!

I just moved to Seattle to take a good job. I moved here from L.A. While I may be a snob that believes there is no place like Cali, I am willng to give other cities a shot...I've lived everywhere. I like Arizona, San Diego, Houston, Las Vegas and a couple others, but when it comes to sucking Seattle is king. I don't care about the rain. I just care about the people here who are deperately trying to be hip. Seattle is the whitest town in America...and that's not a compliment. Oh, did I mention I'm white. This place is about as diverse as a KKK rally. I can't stand it here, I'm leaving just as soon as I save up money. I won't miss Seattle and I'm sure it won't miss me.

Ann Arbor: Seattle's Sister City

I know this is a Seattle Sucks website, but I thought I'd give y'all a heads up on another city that sucks like yours: Ann Arbor. Yes, home to the University of Michigan Wolverines, and black sheep of the state. Yes, the same city that magically shows up on top ten city lists year after year. I felt I would share my experience here as I am graduating next week, and glad to leave and go back home to Mid-Michigan.
