Loved your post. Unfortunately my tolerance for "reserved" people has diminshed greatly after living here for 10 years. It seems to me that being shy, inward,and aloof are personality flaws.
Get over it and stop making everyone around you work so hard! I'm not speaking to you exactly,because you obviously have developed yourself enough to function in the world.
The reserved thing truly sucks. Get over yourselves people. Look outside and embrace something besides your tiny minds.

Yeah, you summed it up pretty well. There is no excuse for these fucked up people.
And, it has nothing to do with the Nordic past of some people here. Really, that is a small part of the population, as you say. More importantly, the people here with nordic heritage that I have met are some of the nicest and friendliest people in the entire damn Northwest!
I've also lived in Scandinavia for a while and I can tell you that there is nothing genetic about being nordic and being unfriendly. Everywhere I turned in Norway, people wanted to talk about everything under the sun!
No, the problem with Seattle is that somehow it managed to attract all the screwed up people looking for a government run utopia. Environmental extremists, angry feminists, loser wanna be rock stars, computer engineers that wanted to be famous for their code .... etc...

Not only are the people ruthless, they are so goddamn ugly!! I hate sitting at a long traffic light wishing the hell it would change cause I'm tired of seeing nothing but fat, ugly, pale, gangsta wannabe, spiked haired fuckin freaks, lookin like they crawled outa someones asshole. This deffinitely is the national anus!
